Kleintjekunst

"Alexandra is a dancer. She takes the children along in a research of their body. How does your body move when you breathe? Hffffff you take a deep breath, your belly grows, and you tighten your body and stretch, and then pfffffffff you blow out, your abdomen contracts, your navel pushes in and your body relaxes. Then your back bends and you roll into a ball. The children play with different forms of movement, become more aware of their muscle strength and breathing and play with tension and relaxation in different parts of the body. Together they blow in and out, stretch, make themselves small or whirl through the space like a deflating balloon."

Alexandra Loembé has been working as a "Kleintjekunstenaar" since 2019 and has been providing interactive performances for zero to six year olds at preschools and daycare centers in Amsterdam. Based on her expertise as a maker, teacher and dancer, she has developed a program for Kleintjekunst in which she uses dance to generate sensory play in babies, toddlers and preschoolers. The goal is to let children experience different movement qualities in their own body in a style-transcending way, while also working on body awareness and the personal expressive-creative development of each child. Through the non-verbal transference and performative method, dance is made accessible to various groups.
