PIA’S FIRST TOUCH/PIA GOES IN CIRCLES 2020

PIA'S FIRST TOUCH / PIA GOES IN CIRCLES is about curiosity, vulnerability, sensitivity and an early state of being. She suggests a first touch, the beginning of the day, the feeling of endless possibilities, the rising and setting of the sun and a life course from the first meeting. The performance stimulates the viewer on a physical level, without a real skin-to-skin touch.

PIA'S FIRST TOUCH / PIA GOES IN CIRCLES is Alexandra Loembé's graduation piece. As a choreographer she worked with six dance enthusiasts, non-professional dancers between the ages of 17 and 33. Dancers with a lot and little experience dance together without accentuating this difference. One already has many possibilities in the body, while the other moves more freely. The women did not know each other before this project. However, they all had some experience with dance or theater from different disciplines. During the creative process there was a genuine encounter, approach and curiosity towards each other. The dancers were not afraid to be creative due to the warm and safe atmosphere. They touched Alexandra and each other.

“What I want to achieve with the audience is that the humming makes them feel vulnerable and that they are taken out of their comfort zone. I hope that the audience feels more connected to what is happening on the stage, becomes completely distracted by it, feels confident, ashamed, tired due to the repetition or feels as if they are in the same circle as the dancers. Instead of being away from reality during the performance, you are right in the middle of it. I hope to evoke diverse associations among the audience. The audience is free in this process. You are stimulated to let your imagination run wild. It is a performance with an open ending. ”
